Therapeutic Projects https://tpfarrierservices.webs.com/apps/photos/ Therapeutic Projects Before Here is a before picture of a quarter horse that gets trimmed every six weeks. Although his heels are slightly underrun, he has a nice foot and stays sound with just a barefoot trim. https://tpfarrierservices.webs.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=175541179 175541179 After And here's after, looking nice with XYZ balance. https://tpfarrierservices.webs.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=175541180 175541180 Heartbar Shoe This is one example of a Natural Balance Heart bar shoe with a leather rim pad that I fabricated for one of my horses that has a pretty severe case of chronic laminitis. The walls of his hoof were breaking up at the ground surface as well. The leather pad and heart bar took care of this little problem and Jake now moves around comfortably in his new kicks. https://tpfarrierservices.webs.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=175542239 175542239 Heartbar https://tpfarrierservices.webs.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=175542240 175542240 Here's Mike finishing up the heartbar. https://tpfarrierservices.webs.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=175541187 175541187 And here it is all finished up. It's not pretty but he gets better every time I go back and he's not sore at all. https://tpfarrierservices.webs.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=175541186 175541186 Jasmine Here's a view of Jasmine's front hooves. She is a quarter horse used to play polocrosse. She's a great horse but was born with some terrible feet. Low heels, thins soles, and thin walls are a terrible combination for a horse. Her feet grow very slowly and break up at the ground surface especially in the quarters. We tried to keep her out of pads but today we decided we needed to try something else. Her heels were getting pretty sore so I decided to raise them with a leather wedge pad, which the leather should keep the wall from breaking up at the bottom, and a natural balance shoe to aide in breakover. https://tpfarrierservices.webs.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=175720142 175720142 Rear view of Jasmine's front right https://tpfarrierservices.webs.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=175720143 175720143 After the trim The quarters of her feet flare out and break off easily. https://tpfarrierservices.webs.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=175720220 175720220 Hoof Packing Antiseptic hoof packing is applied to keep the bacteria at bay underneath a pad. https://tpfarrierservices.webs.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=175719625 175719625 Hoof Packing https://tpfarrierservices.webs.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=175719626 175719626 Hoof Packing Ready for a pad. https://tpfarrierservices.webs.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=175719627 175719627 Nailing it on. This is the tough part because her thin walls don't give me very much breathing room when it came to nail placement. https://tpfarrierservices.webs.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=175719628 175719628 Blocking https://tpfarrierservices.webs.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=175719629 175719629 Nailing https://tpfarrierservices.webs.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=175719630 175719630 Finished Product This is the finished product. No it's not very pretty but she's very comfortable. We'll work on the cosmetic part once I get that wall to grow sound. https://tpfarrierservices.webs.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=175719631 175719631 Finished Product https://tpfarrierservices.webs.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=175719632 175719632 Finished Product https://tpfarrierservices.webs.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=175719633 175719633 Finished Product https://tpfarrierservices.webs.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=175720144 175720144 Finished Product https://tpfarrierservices.webs.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=175720145 175720145 Happy Hoof Wear Here is a polyurethane shoe made by Happy Hoof Wear. They are slightly flexable and seem to absorb a lot of shock and I am currently trying them on a horse to treat navicular. Stay tuned for results!! https://tpfarrierservices.webs.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=177124266 177124266 https://tpfarrierservices.webs.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=177124267 177124267 Dusty Here's Dusty wearing his new Happy Hoofwear Shoes. So far he seems to be feeling great. This is the first shoeing. The third reset is supposed to be the one where the horse starts to really feel good. We shall see!! They fit really well and I don't have anything negative to say about them yet. https://tpfarrierservices.webs.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=177124270 177124270 Dusty side view https://tpfarrierservices.webs.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=177124268 177124268 Dusty Front View https://tpfarrierservices.webs.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=177124269 177124269 Cinnamon Here's poor little Cinnamon. She is a 25 year old mini with laminitis. She's in pretty bad shape right here and very sore. https://tpfarrierservices.webs.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=177124271 177124271 Cinnamon https://tpfarrierservices.webs.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=177124272 177124272 Cinnamon After After a first trim she is looking a little better but still sore. Within the next couple of months, if the owners can keep her diet right, I can get her pain free. https://tpfarrierservices.webs.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=177124273 177124273 Cinnamon https://tpfarrierservices.webs.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=177124274 177124274 Dusty Again!!! Well I hate to say it but the polyurethane shoes were a failure. After two weeks I had to put Dusty back in his natural balance Eggbars. It was a good concept but Dusty never left his 3 acre lot and the shoes were tore up and starting to push towards the inside of his foot, which is the side he loads his weight on. https://tpfarrierservices.webs.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=177623176 177623176 Dusty Again!!! Here's a front view of Dusty's foot. You can notice how the shoe is left slightly wide on the inside to support the inside wall in which he loads his weight causing it to be a little more upright than the outside wall. Leaving the shoe wide will support his bone structure in his legs and not just the foot alone. Over time the foot will slowly correct itself. https://tpfarrierservices.webs.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=177623175 177623175 Dusty Again!!! https://tpfarrierservices.webs.com/apps/photos/photo?photoID=177623177 177623177
